Long Time...

Well, it has been a very long time since I posted on here and about time I started again.  I have been doing a lot of fibre and textile arts over the last year including felting, sewing , embroidery, basket making (coiling & felted) and paper bead jewellery.  I have also tried to get into my painting again which I had lost a lot of confidence in.  I have a few paintings on the go.

On the food and health side of life I'm endeavouring to eat as Paleo as possible though it's not 100%. I've been making bone broth lately for drinking, it is amazingly yummo!  And my latest venture is to try and grow my own Scoby for making home made kombucha.

My ideal in life would be to be as self sufficient as possible.

Oh Yolanda...

Something got into the sheep pens... two giant burmese... grrrr

Ok so this was my first attempt at needle felting a sheep.  I've only ever done two other needle felt animals, a lady bug and a gold fish, and this is quite a bit bigger.  At first I was not happy at all with it, but she has grown on me.  She's felted with brown WA wool and grey curley wool from TAS.  Sorry I dont remember the type of wool.  Hope you like her.

Whoa... lol a quick 15min drawing with oil pastels.  This is Isabella, a chook I once owned, alas I think she may be in chook heaven now.  I'm really enjoying the quick drawings as they loosen me up to be creative and experimental.  In this way I am not so worried about being perfect.  Sometimes its the imperfections that make an image.

Vision

Sitting here night after night wondering

What does the future hold?

Not always like this

Eagerness and excitement giving way to quiet desperation

I thought I should have figured things out by now!?

Turns out its not that easy

Feeling like i've been waiding through mud,

reaching for the banks only to slip back down

That glimmer of vision amongst the numbness of everyday life,

flickering in and out of my mind

I reach out desperately for this vision, hoping...

Painted with Watercolours from a gardening magazine. I'm finding mixing colours and putting in shadow to create a 3d effect rather hard.

I actually really like this practice apple, it looks fairly good from a distance and I like the use of the blue pencil I used to create the shadows.
